There are plenty of reasons and excuses as to why something does not get fixed around your home. You don’t have the time or money, you want to enjoy the summer sun, the thought of fixing something scares you and the list could go on and on. Most of the time you would be better off fixing something when you first notice a problem though, instead of letting it get worse. This will just end up costing your more time and/or money, a point that is illustrated with the nine home fixes mentioned below. While it may not be the most exciting thing on your to do list, just think about what could happen if you don’t take the time to repair these issues this weekend. For example, that loose deck railings or those creaky steps could really become an issue if someone gets injured during your next BBQ. A quick fix isn’t a good idea either. Make sure you get the right fasteners and fix your problem in a sturdy and secure way. You should also plan to replace the hose on your old washing machine before it deteriorates. This could lead to flooding, which causes about $170 million in damages in homes around the U.S. every year. The hose is not expensive or too difficult to replace. Since we are already talking laundry, make sure you clean the lint out of your dryer vent on a regular bases. A clogged vent or hose could lead to a dangerous home fire. You aren’t going to have to fix everything that is on the list below, but we are sure at least a few of these items apply to you. Set a goal date this summer to complete these fixes by and save yourself time, money and worry!
No matter how much time you spend performing routine maintenance to keep everything in tip-top condition, you’ll still be blindsided by unexpected breakdowns. But you can eliminate problems before they arise, saving yourself a lot of money and hassle.
