Have questions about renting a dumpster?
We work with thousands of customers every year, from first-time to experienced renters, and have heard just about every situation that can come your way.
We’ve laid out some of the most common questions that we get below along with what you need to know. Don’t see your question? Give us a call 888-616-3495! We love hearing from our customers.
THE DUMPSTER RENTAL PROCESS
It depends! We generally find a dumpster rental to be a valuable option for projects like large room or multi-room cleanouts, landscaping work, single room (bathroom, kitchen) to whole home renovations, large home improvements (roofing, flooring), tenant upfits & buildouts, and more.
Any time you’re doing a project that would require about 4 or more truck loads worth of material, you might find a dumpster rental to be a good option. Still not sure if it’s right for you? Give our customer service team a call. They’ll guide you toward the best option, whether it’s working with us or recommending a call to your local waste services department.
We love this question! You have options and we want to earn your business. Here are 3 reasons to choose us:
- Easy to work with: Order and manage your whole rental online or call our helpful associates – work with us how you want, on your schedule, with the confidence that we’ll show up and do the job.
- Trusted reviews: We have hundreds of 5-star reviews from real customers like you. Head over to Google to see what our customers think of working with us.
- 17 years in business: We’ve been around so long because we treat customers right, from first-time renters to experienced contractors. We aim to provide fair pricing and exceptional service because repeat business and reputation matter to us.
The process is surprisingly easy. Call us or get a quote online. We’ll ask where the dumpster is going to be delivered, what’s going in it, the size you want, and when you want it.
When you schedule, we’ll show up on the delivery date and drop the dumpster off where and when you specify. When you’re ready for us to take it away or you fill the dumpster up and need a new one, just give us a call or use our online portal to schedule the date when you want the service.
It’s best to book your dumpster as early as possible to ensure availability. While we appreciate a few days’ notice, we can typically deliver the next business day if you order by noon. We’re open until 5 PM accepting orders and will make every effort to schedule you the next day if that’s when you want your dumpster.
The cost of a dumpster rental depends on the delivery address, dumpster size, and type of debris – we provide an all-inclusive price quote based on these factors. As a local company, we work hard to provide a fair price to customers while maintaining exceptional standards of service.
Our pricing includes delivery, pickup, a generous rental period, and debris disposal up to the specified weight limit.
Your quote has all the information you’ll need. Look for the Included Weight Allowance (how much weight you can put in your dumpster before the overweight cost kicks in), Included Rental Period (how long you can keep the dumpster before the additional per day charge), and information about items that will trigger an additional charge.
When comparing quotes from different providers, be sure to understand how much weight is included and your rental period to create an apples-to-apples comparison.
The size of the dumpster you need depends on your project. We offer 15, 20, and 30-yard dumpsters in most areas. We outline common uses for each size on our Dumpster Sizes page or you can always call our office for assistance from our experienced customer service representatives.
The material you select may impact your price and rental terms. Below are our most common material selections. You can always give us a call and tell us about your situation if you’re not sure which one to pick.
- General: Ideal for home or office clean outs, renovation projects, and other common household items. Items might include wood, plastic, textiles, appliances, or small furniture.
- Construction & Demolition: Perfect for contractors and DIY enthusiasts working on building or dismantling structures. Common items include lumber, drywall, tiles, and related debris.
- Concrete: Choose this only for clean concrete or cinder blocks. These dumpsters can be filled up to 2/3 the dumpster’s height due to weigh restrictions.
- Dirt: Choose this for dirt, mixed concrete, cinder block, and brick. These dumpsters can be filled up to 2/3 the dumpster’s height due to weigh restrictions.
- Other: You may see a few other material options, and the name will generally guide you to the right selection (Yard Waste, Roofing, Metal, etc.)!
Delivery & Pickup
No, as long as our drivers have placement instructions (which are set up when you order; give us a call if you want to modify the instructions) and a clear right of way to the placement area you don’t need to be home for a drop off or a pick up!
If the driver isn’t able to safely place the dumpster where requested, they’ll work with you to find the best solution.
Regulations and permit requirements for placing dumpsters on the street vary by municipality. Contact your local municipality for regulations and permit costs. Next Day Dumpsters is not responsible for obtaining permits.
Despite our precautions, there’s always a potential for damage to your property caused by heavy trucks, the weight of the containers, or poor surface conditions. Next Day Dumpsters is not financially liable for damages caused by normal dumpster operation. Call our team to discuss ways to protect your driveway or landscaping when renting a dumpster from us.
We handle most types of home improvement, demolition, and clean out debris, except for items restricted by EPA guidelines, such as biohazardous materials, paint, batteries, propane tanks, liquids, chemicals, and equipment with gas or oil.
Certain items like mattresses or couches may have an additional charge. Contact our customer service team or request a quote to learn which items have additional charges.
Please do not load materials above the top rails of the dumpster, as this interferes with the tarp used during transport. Keep the load flat and evenly distributed if possible.
If the dumpster is overloaded, you may need to unload it to a safe level before we can transport it. If we’re unable to safely transport your dumpster due to overloading, you may be charged a Service Attempt Fee. Dumpsters with concrete can only be loaded 2/3 full.
Your quote or service confirmation email will detail the length of your rental period. The day of delivery does not count toward those days. After that, you’ll be charged the daily rental rate outlined in your quote.
We don’t schedule automatic pick-ups. When you’re done with your dumpster, give our team a call to set up your final pickup or use the Manage My Rental link from your Service Confirmation email to schedule it online.
Everything Else
No problem! You can keep your dumpster as long as you need. For each day past your rental period (detailed in your quote or service confirmation), you’ll pay the listed daily rate. If you know you’ll have it for longer than the period, ask us about our options to prepay for extra days and save!
If your dumpster is getting full and you’re still actively working on your project, we can come out and swap out your full dumpster for an empty one. Just call us up and ask for an Exchange or use the Manage My Rental link from your service confirmation email.
It depends entirely on the items in your dumpster. Heavy items like brick or concrete will weigh more, while a dumpster filled with common household items will weigh less. When we pick up your dumpster, we bring it to a landfill or facility where your debris is weighed to the pound. If the dumpster weighs up to your weight limit or below, you’re good to go!
If the dumpster exceeds the weight limit, you’ll be charged the overweight rate listed in your quote, prorated to the pound. Each dumpster comes with a different weight allowance and customizable options. If you’re not sure what’s right for you based on your materials, give our team a call and they can help you pick the best option.
Nope! You’ll never get hidden fees from us. You’ll be charged based on the following:
- A base rate that includes delivery & pickup, a period of rental days, and a weight allowance
- If you exceed the weight allowance, you’ll be charged the overweight rate prorated to the pound
- If you keep your dumpster longer than the rental period, you’ll be charged a per-day rental fee
- If you dispose of items where we incur an additional charge to dump them (oftentimes items like mattresses or couches), you’ll be charged the fee outlined in your quote
- If we try to complete a service but are unable to do so, you will be charged a service attempt fee
