Decluttering your Home

Declutter In the New Year; Consider a Trash Dumpster

When the New Year rings in, it means a new start and chance to get those items marked off your list that have been plaguing you the whole year.  Whether you want to eat healthier, be more organized or be more financially organized, decluttering your life is a great place to start.  Once you know your resolution, you know which part of your house to start in.

Eating Healthier

Part of eating healthier is having the right food in your kitchen and making the healthy items easily accessible.  When you want to grab a snack or your are running out of the house you will grab what is easy and right in front of you.  Organizing your kitchen will also make it easier and more enjoyable for you to cook at home. Which is generally a healthier alternative to eating out. One final step to kitchen delucttering is cleaning out and donating any of the unhealthy items that you don’t want to eat in the New Year.

Financial organization

The quickest place to start when getting financially organized is your wallet or purse. Clean out any old receipts, credit cards you don’t use, etc.  The less you have in your wallet or purse the easier it is to keep track of the things you do have.  The next place you need to organize is your office.  Having a clean area to pay bills and track them is important to making payments on time.  Buy desk organizers and filing cabinets to keep paid and unpaid bills separate as well as investment statements, so that you always know where you stand financially.

Home Organization

Nowadays there are so many different types of organizers available, it makes life very easy. However you can also just use what you already have at home. Start in one room and throw out or donate anything that you don’t need. If you find that you have a large number of items to dispose of you might consider renting a trash dumpster. Even something like a 10 yard trash dumpster can help make the project much easier. Just think if you don’t throw it out right away, the unwanted items may find their way back into your house.

After you have cleaned out unwanted items you can buy organizer boxes, find empty boxes and shoeboxes around the house, or buy a piece of furniture that can hold wanted items. Categorize your items, label the boxes, and start putting items away.  Decluttering isn’t a complicated activity; it is just a time consuming one.

The best part of decluttering is it can be done to any part of your life to get started on a new path.  It is a simple start and will encourage you to reach your New Year’s goals.
